This is Carmen! She is originally from Venezuela and we are so lucky to have her as a Network Analyst in C.R. England Querétaro, Mexico office. Our Cares Team leader out of Querétaro, Gerardo Granados, describes Carmen as a team player because she is always at the forefront of the One Initiative activities!

First interaction with the One Initiative

When Carmen was looking at joining the C.R. England team, she came across the One Initiative website and fell in love with the concept. She believes it’s the best idea because children are the cornerstone of society. This initiative resonates even more so with her now as Covid-19 has made it harder for so many kids in Mexico and the United States to have consistent access to food. For her, keeping children fed is a top priority.

Favorite Memory

Last year, the Querétaro office held a big food drive during the Día de Los Muertos Celebration. Día de Los Muertos is a beautiful two-day festival that demonstrates love and respect for deceased family members. An essential part of this celebration is the ofrenda (meaning offering), which is a table each family sets up and decorates to remember and honor the memory of their ancestors.

Carmen loved the integration of this tradition into the One Initiative. The Querétaro team set up a giant ofrenda at the office and everyone worked together to fill it up with items they could donate to the food bank. So much food was donated it took two pickup trucks to make the delivery.

Personal Goals

Carmen has always been focused on helping to create fun events and opportunities for people to get involved with the One Initiative. Even now with the challenges of COVID-19, her goal is to find virtual ways for C.R. England employees and community members to fight against childhood hunger.

Advice from Carmen

Carmen advises anyone involved in the One Initiative to always invite your friends and family to participate with you. You can also encourage them to reach out and get their circle involved as well. This is an easy and great way to start getting an entire community engaged in fighting against childhood hunger.
